VIU History Harvest

April 5 2025, 12 - 2 pm

Were you affected by the 2011 Vancouver Island University Faculty Association (VIUFA) strike? The VIU History Department is holding a “History Harvest” to deepen our understanding of the events that took place during the 2011 VIUFA strike by recording the community's experience and preserving their stories as important pieces of Nanaimo history.

We are looking for community members to come and share their recollection of or their involvement in the strike - if you were a faculty member, a student, a student athlete, someone involved in housing exchange students, Nanaimo citizen, etc. or if you owned a business who depended on the university being open at that time, come and have your story recorded and preserved.

Please join us on Saturday, April 5th, at the Vancouver Island Regional Library - Nanaimo Harbourfront location from 12 pm - 2 pm to share your story.

Date and Time:
April 5 2025, 12 - 2 pm
