In celebration of International Women's Day, please join us for "Seeding Revolution," a faculty panel discussion about feminist organizing in fascist times. The event will be opened by Knowledge holder and Faculty member Aunty Stella Johnson.
The VIU Faculty Association's Women's and Gender Equity Committee will ask panelists to address the systematic assaults on diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) initiatives and programs in North America and beyond.
Panelists will draw on their distinct expertise and experiences in teaching, research, and activism, and they will also be asked to identify actions that we can take to protect and promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility for all.
Faculty panelists include: Collette Jones (Studies in Women and Gender); Imogene Lim (Anthropology and Global Studies); Finn Meyer Cook (Social Work), and Sarah Lovegrove (Nursing).
Music provided by Sonnet L' Abbe.
Information tables: Positive Space Alliance, VIU's Harm Reduction Alliance, Central Vancouver Island Multicultural Society, Literacy Central Vancouver Island, and others, TBA.
Light refreshments and snacks will be offered.
This event is especially relevant for faculty, staff, students, administrators, and key community stakeholders.
