How can we navigate divisive topics without avoiding them altogether?
How can we discuss different viewpoints openly, yet with sensitivity and skill?
Speaker Jennie Barron is the Chair of the Mir Centre for Peace at Selkirk College and the Director of a three-year applied research project, "Courageous Dialogues: Moving Beyond Polarization". Courageous Dialogues seeks to understand how individuals can cultivate the capacities and skills necessary to move past polarization in the interests of reclaiming civil dialogue and the possibility of constructive collaboration on the issues that most concern us all.
Courageous Dialogues is a collaboration among Selkirk College, Vancouver Community College and Capilano Uversity. It is funded in part by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), with the active support of the Decoda Literacy Foundation, the Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy (CBAL), and the Continuing Education and Training Association of BC.
This is a free community event, no registration or RSVP required.
