This program runs from March - June on Fridays from 1:30PM - 4PM. The cost to join is only $2.00, with the exception of our Englishman River Falls adventure - costing $10.00 due to the extended duration of the hike (overall time). Please sign up in advance. Ammonite Falls Ammonite Falls is Nanaimo’s most significant waterfall, which is why it’s so popular. The name comes from the many fossils found in the area over the years, the largest of which was found in 2012. Fossils also inhabit the layers of sedimentary rock found around the waterfall itself. People have found small fossils lying in the creek bed as well. If you do happen to find one, please leave it in place. The Regional District of Nanaimo has recently finished upgrades to the trail which include a new viewing platform and a staircase - making Ammonite Falls more accessible than ever! Trip Includes: Transportation to and from the hike and a guided hike on one of Nanaimo's trails. \n\n\nOff Campus Building 255 Room Reception\n\nhttps://events.viu.ca/local-hikes-ammonite-fallsOff Campus Building 255 Room ReceptionfalseaYqCFcQpUzxLBYhTummH26494
