Join the VIU Seed Library and Nanaimo Foodshare at their 945 Park Avenue farm for a hands-on seed saving workshop. Free of charge and open to everyone! Get ready to share a fun-filled, hands-on urban farming experience led by Nanaimo Foodshare's Farm Education Facilitators, where you'll learn how to save seeds that thrive in our environment. At the end of the workshop, expect to take some seeds home for your own garden!
To set yourself up for success at the farm, ensure you have:
- warm layers, if chilly.
- waterproof jacket, if it's raining.
- hat, if it's sunny.
- boots or shoes that are good for the outdoors. You will be treading on uneven ground and some un-mowed grass.
- water bottle to stay hydrated.
If you are coming from campus, plan for the following transit time:
- 18 to 22 mins via public transit
- 12 mins by bicycle
- 8 mins by car.
A small number of spaces are available for a Farm to Fork Harvest & Cooking Workshop directly following this event! Please contact stephanie.hohn@viu.ca for further information.
