Evacuation Drill Notice
Vancouver Island University will be conducting a specialized evacuation drill on February 19, 2026 at 9:00 AM involving several buildings near the Welding Shop (Building B130).
During the drill, an alarm will sound in Building B130, triggering an evacuation for all buildings located within a 100‑metre perimeter of B130. The impacted buildings include:
- Trades Compound
- Building 120
- Building 130
- Building 180
- Building 185
- Building 190
Individuals in these buildings must evacuate to a location outside the 100‑metre perimeter, as shown in red on the map below.
Response and Support
Building Emergency Wardens will support evacuation inside buildings and Facilities Management and Development staff will be positioned at designated locations outside to help redirect pedestrian and vehicle traffic away from the evacuation zone to ensure a safe and efficient drill.
